The Workshop

An exciting opportunity to get in touch with fantastic music from the 15th to the 17th century.

Singers: SATB. Please download scores from here: link to vocal scores.
Instruments: recorders (4 and 8-foot) viols, trombones, cornetts, curtals, shawms.

Orlando di Lasso: Laudate Dominum à12
A sacred motet which was first published in 1573. It is truly a tutti piece, and the richness of the sounds will set us up for the day.

Orazio Vecchi: La Battaglia d'Amor e Dispetto à10
A massive psychomachian tableau, in which the personifications of Amor (Love), Dispetto (Scorn), and their respective retinues engage in furious combat.

Antoine Brumel: Missa Et ecce terræ motus | Kyrie
This will be our earliest composition today.

Hieronymus Praetorius: Exultate iusti à16
First published in 1618, this will be our biggest piece to end the day.
