Join us in stepping back in time at a concert featuring Bristol University’s Schola Cantorum. The programme will include contemporary settings of Hildegard von Bingen texts by Bristol composer Sarah Garrard and chants from the English Birgittine institution of Syon Abbey. The Hildegard texts were written around the time of St Nicholas’ Norman foundations and the Birgittine chants were sung in London around the time that the pinnacled tower was added in the 15th century. We hope you enjoy these musical offerings that connect the past, present, and future of St Nicholas’ and surrounding communities. The Schola Cantorum specialises in medieval chant and was formed by Prof. Emma Hornby in 2008. They perform regularly in Bristol and occasionally, further afield.
