Join us in 'stepping back' in time at a free concert featuring Bristol's own Schola Cantorum. The programme will include the first rogation day processional liturgy from the English Birgittine institution of Syon Abbey. The performance is also part public experiment - members of the audience will be invited to process, sing, and participate in a Q&A about their experience following the performance. The Schola Cantorum specialises in medieval chant and was formed by Prof. Emma Hornby in 2008. They perform regularly in Bristol and occasionally, further afield. This concert was made possible by the University of Bristol's Centre for Medieval Studies 2023 PGR Conference 'Identities, communities, and 'imagined communities.' The concert and following wine reception are generously supported by the Bristol Doctoral College and St. James' Priory. Donations are welcome.
