The Secret Life of Vivaldi

St George's Bristol

7.30pm

£13 to £34

Without giving too much away,  “Vivaldi” appears at a concert of The Four Seasons - and takes over the whole  evening - telling his life story and why he feels history has judged him poorly  and very perturbed that he is largely remembered only for the Four Seasons and  not his many other works.

A superb actor, from Game of Thrones and Starwars fame, Miltos Yerolemou,  brings Vivaldi brilliantly to life.  The Bristol Ensemble and the Fitzhardinge Consort provide all the music, much of it rarely performed.  The play is based on 2 years of research into the life and music of Vivaldi and is intended to accurately represent the man and his life story.

Featuring many rarely performed works, including stunning excerpts from his choral masterpieces – Nisi Dominus, Credo, Stabat Mater, Judith Triumphans, and operas like Orlando, Arsilda, Otone in Villa and Dorilla in Tempe, plus breathtaking music from his opuses such as La Stravaganza and La Cetra – and tantalising highlights from the most popular music in the world, Le Quattro Stagioni.
