The Brockes Passion - Handel

St Mary's Church, Tetbury

5pm

Sandrine Piau soprano
Stuart Jackson tenor
Konstantin Krimmel baritone

Arcangelo is one of the world’s leading ensembles, bringing together exceptional musicians under the baton of Jonathan Cohen.

Composed while the young Handel was at the peak of his operatic success in London, the Brockes Passion is a sacred opera by another name. A vivid mixture of chorales, choruses and emotive recitatives places the work among Handel’s nest, but the astonishingly varied sequence of arias – over 40 of them – set the Brockes Passion apart. Arcangelo’s recording of this ‘haunting, expressive masterpiece’ will be made directly following the concert performances at Tetbury Festival and at Wigmore Hall.
