Musicke in the Ayre continue their 2024 series at St Mary's Bathwick with this programme of charming and elegant airs and dialogues to the lute, popular at the court of Louis XIII. The Air de cour was the French equivalent of the English lute song, although its popularity lasted much longer. Court composers such as Pierre Guedron, Etienne Moulinie and Francois Richard published hundreds of these: some were written as dialogues between lovers. Sopranos Carmel Edward and Jane Hunt will be accompanied by Din Ghani on lute. Refreshments available in the church hall before and after the performance.
