SWEMF would like to invite you to take part in a workshop of polyphonic music for singers, players of renaissance wind instruments, strings and recorders with musical director Philip Thorby on Saturday September 30th 2023. Philip Thorby is well known as one of the country’s leading performers and teachers in the field of Renaissance and Baroque music.

The work to be studied has been chosen by Philip and is the Missa Dominus Regnavit à 16 by Lambert de Sayve (1548-1614). It is in four choirs and represents the repertory at the Graz court c1600 where de Sayve served the Archduke Charles II. Musical taste at court was largely for Venetian-style polychoral music. The work is for singers and instrumentalists.  In 1612, de Sayve became Imperial Maestro di Capella to the Holy Roman Emperor.
